RED DNA

DNA:

DNA:an acronym for ‘deoxyribonucleic acid’, is a nucleic acid that contains the genetic instructions specifying the biological development of all cellular forms of life. You will not see DNA as a part of your everyday life, but what you do see in biological development you can be pretty sure that DNA has something to do with it.

The DNA of the REDunited community contains the community instructions specifying what’s important to us and where we are going as a faith community. Our vision, our beliefs and our values are at the very core of what it means to be a part of the REDunited community, it is the DNA that expresses itself in everything we do.

The Vision:

The vision is what we strive for, it’s that image in our mind, that dream in our hearts that we long to see come to life. When God was creating DNA, organelles, cytoplasms, nuclei, chloroplasts, mitochondria etc., he had this picture in mind – humankind, created in the image of God. Similarly, as we engineer a faith community and all its components we have this picture in our minds, we long to see:

“a community of everyday people seeking to follow Jesus uncompromisingly in our culture”

Jesus is the centre, He is the model, the teacher and the One who is honoured, valued and worshipped above all else. We seek to live life out in community, acknowledging that we’re just everyday, ordinary people journeying through life. As a community we want to be challenging each other to live more uncompromisingly the life Jesus has called us to, we don’t want to compromise His values by living in our world, but we want to use our culture to communicate His timeless message to the new generations in our world.
