…Also bring swimming gear, sports equipment, chairs, FRIENDS etc. basically anything that’ll add to the night.
If any yuth need a lift, Pls let a leader know and we can arrange for you to be picked up and dropped off.

I finally remembered to check this website, purely because I had my phone on me when Sherwantha reminded me at youth.
Where does Satan come from?
i have no idea if this is right or even related, but believe it or not in my theory of art and design lecture they were talking about ancient assyrian and babylonian mythology. apparently they believed that the goddess of the oceans and chaotic watery abyss was a serpent called tiamat. she was killed by another supposed god who made the earth out of her body -mountains from her spines, rivers from her blood etc. he decided to create his kingdom on earth and called himself the king of babylon. perhaps refernces to the serpent and the king of babylon originate from here?
i really have no idea if this is related at all, but i thought cos in Isiah it refers to the king of babylon so perhaps…
Woah, just a casual question there. Do you mean where does Satan live? Or what was his origin?
well, on tuesday we were wondering how we knew that satan was once the angel of music in heaven and then though he was better than god and tried to overthrow him, but then he and the angels who followed him (about a third of all the angels in heaven?) were thrown out of heaven etc. – how do we know this? is it in the bible or is it just hearsay. the bible never refers to satan as lucifer, which is strangely a latin name – but perhaps as the king of babylon etc.
where have we taken all these ideas from?
Well at Bible study last Tuesday we were saying all kinds of things about Satan being a fallen angel and various other facts about him. Then we realised we weren’t sure where in the Bible we got those ideas, so now we’re trying to find out!

If anyone is keeping up reading for the sermons every week can they let us know how they are breaking up the passages ie. How many verses you read each day??

Just ignore the dates and go with the days per week.
If you want to do half of the verses per day in order to stretch it out a bit longer, that’d be cool.
Just make sure you’re keeping with the flow of the story – there’s no point stopping your reading after 10 verses when you’re only halfway through a speech of Jesus or he’s only halfway through healing someone.
Read a story section rather than a set number of verses.
Sometimes it may be shorter or longer.

yeah. Wow that’s a big thought. So you mean doing every single thing that Jesus calls us to do? Like caring for the poor and sharing our resources and loving each other? Yeah, I’m sure it would be exhausting but surely you’d also feel better?
I think this is fantastic, because judging on the few times I’ve seen Oprah, a year doing what she said would definitely change your life. It would leave you broke from buying an endless list of sappy books, malnourished from detox diets and unemployed because of your your commitment to daytime tv. That said following what Jesus says to do for a year would probably leave you in worse shape!
Lisa you’re right tt does sound like WWJD! I think it would be interesting to read the book and see what this woman did following what Oprah say to do I For me it is strange to think of following Oprah. I wonder what made her do it? An experiment or something else?
After last nights, small group comments on Oprah I was interested to see that a new book has come out where a person spends one whole year following all that oprah says to do. As someone put it “What would Oprah do?” doesn’t sound at all like WWJD?

Who has a cat they would like to donate?
Well actually all I need is a picture of your cat. I have an assignment for uni where I need to genotype a cat. Basically I need to look at it and figure out what it has inherited from it’s parents to make it look the way it does. If your interested bring a photo of your cat to church. You will be contributing to a Melbourne wide study on domestic cats plus I can give you the genotype of your and the study results once my research is finished.

Wow, Joel that video game article was pretty heavy. I think that video games really do have a negative affect on people.
There is a German guy on the Doulos that I live with and he admits that he was addicted to gaming but through reading an online testimony of another guy he came to know Christ!
I’m playing Unreal Tournament while here in Bangkok. But I’ve restricted my game play to only on Saturday when I’m off otherwise I know that it will be hard to stop playing.

Hey guys! I have a really great friend who was hit by a truck. He has a broken femur, tibia and fibular as well as fractured ribs and facial bones. They had to Cut open his stomach to get all the ashfault out and thats just the half of it. He’s been in there a week and he still isn’t awake!
